Why bother with a Surrey County Aerial Reception Page?
TV aerial reception areas differ a lot even, within the Surrey county itself. Not only that but the analogue channels may have differrent challenges compared to the digital tv channels, or the same in reverse.
There is something called a postocode checker, which we have given you the link for which helps with finding out what your digital aerial reception area should be like, but that is not, from your point of view, the whole picture.
Now all of this can seem a little daunting, especially if you are only just gettig to grips with the new digital channels available to you!
Please do not be daunted. Local aerial engineers are going to have the local tv aerial knowledge to be able to give you great advice, that is specific to your needs.

It goes without saying that Surrey itself has different challenges compared to say London for tv reception.
The obvious one being that trees block the aerial reception and cause problems like ghosting or 'pixelation', the problem associated with digital tv reception... ie the picture breaks up. There are lots of areas with these problems, but Weybridge, Esher, Cobham and parts of Richmond spring to mind as being (only in some parts) particularly prone to tree reception problems
Some parts of Surrey have hills that can also block reception. Kingston, Dorking, Reigate, Guildford etc
There are also areas that have challenges with being further away from the Crystal Palace transmitter and or on the fringe for aerial reception. Woking, Sandhurst, Cranleigh etc
Some aerial reception areas are blocked from the main transmitters, in full or part and use a small repeater transmitter instead. Sometimes these don't carry the digital signals (yet!) These include Camberley,Ashtead, Kingston (hill), Richmond (hill), Woking, Horley,Godstone, Caterham, Dorking, Bagshot etc
Within all of these aerial reception areas are 'pockets' of good and bad reception, which whilst the postcode checker tool is a great idea, especially for digital signals, it is inconsistent.
If i may explain. About 20 years ago i lived in a small home in Surrey. My neighbours on either side of me had poor analogue tv reception, so being a good neighbour i helped them with their tv aerials and bingo. Perfect reception. I tried to get my tv reception working. I did but it was still poor. No matter what type of tv aerial, height of aerial, amplifiers or transmitter i used, it would not get better, and yet my neighbours homes were practically adjoining my home! Frustrating! But it shows the nature of aerial reception issues quite well. This situation can be from home to home, from street to street or town to town, or all of the above!

"Very satisfied with the service, quick and efficient, polite and hard working, would recommend you again".
This is one of the main reasons why you cannot beat local knowledge, especially when backed by The CAI and all of the necessary standards required by them for technical competence.
So as you can see, this is a guideline only and hopefully a helpful one.
